Classifieds Redux Configuration Parameters Part 1:
Log-in to the administration back-end and select Classifieds Redux configuration.
Here you can set numerous parameters to setup your ad system:
Most of these are self-explanatory.
Auto Published – If set to no then a Manager/Administrator must authorize the ad.
Submission Type - 3 options, create a user acct while posting a new ad, submit an ad without registering or require registration first.
Must login to send message - If you seem to be getting a lot of spammers and bots set this to yes to block them.
Allow ads at root level - It is recommended NOT to allow ads at root level unless you will not have sub-categories.
Number of Ads by user - -1 means unlimited ads, otherwise set to max number of ads allowed per user.
New Notification – Send a confirmation email to user and admin when a new ad has been posted.
Update Notification – Send a confirmation email to user and admin when an ad has been updated.
Profile display- 3 options. Use Jomsocial profile, Community Builder profile or no social network (use Classifieds Redux profile)
Display menu - Display Classifieds Redux menu, if you are using Classifieds Redux Menu module then this can be turned off.
Display search - Display Classifieds Redux search, this can be turned off if using Classifieds Redux Search module.
Display Sort - Indicate whether you want to display the sort/reorder drop down selection that resides within the search box.
If you turn off both the search and sort displays then the rectangular search box will not display at all.
Display Google Map – Indicate whether you want to display Google Maps on details page. In order to get the map to display a minimum of city and state/province must be entered.
Date format - this allows you to set the date format style and when upgrades are made the format will remain. This is instead of the date format in the language files.
Category selection style – When selecting the category (for new ads) yes to retain the simple drop down list, answer no to use a tiered selection list, this would be for a large number of categories.
Warning background – Enter a web safe name such as YELLOW or a web safe code in hex with the preceding hash tag #EFFF00 for highlighting warning's and notices.
Ads per page - the number of ads to display on the View All Ads or My Ads lists.
Include ad image - include the first ad image when sending a confirmation email.
List display mode - Display 1 or 2 columns in the View All Ads, My Ads and search results.
The following 4 fields are to dynamically set CSS widths and heights for the View-All-Ads display. This is to eliminate re-applying custom changes when upgrading the component. The values entered should be a percentage (IE. 98%) or in pixels (IE. 590Px).
Single column width – this is to dynamically set the width when displaying a single column in list mode.
Two column width – this is to dynamically set the width when displaying 2 columns in list mode.
Each column width – this is to dynamically set the width for each column when displaying 2 columns in list mode.
Each column height – this is to dynamically set the height for each column when displaying 2 columns in list mode.
Latest ads number – This is the number of (newest) ads.
Latest ads list display – 3 options, display them at the bottom of the list page, the top or not at all.
List Featured Ads first – If you have the Featured Ads module this will allow you to show the Featured Ads at the beginning of the View All Ads list and highlighted with a background color.
The following 5 fields require a web safe name such as YELLOW or a web safe code in hex with the preceding hash tag #EFFF00
Featured Ads background – set the background color.
Mark as Sold text color – set the text color.
Mark as Sold background – set the background color.
Trade type text color – set the text color.
Trade type background – set the background color.
Show number of hits - Indicate whether or not the number of hits for each AD is to be displayed to everyone or only to the ad's owner or managers/administrators in View-All-Ads listings.
Show NEW indicator – Show a NEW image icon in list mode for new ads.
Number of days in NEW - Number of days to display the NEW icon image.
Show HOT indicator – Show the HOT icon image for popular ads in list mode.
Number of HITS for hot – Number of hits required to achieve a HOT status.
Display user on maps – The following character representing the user will show on maps,
but only if the user is registered and logged in and has a minimum of city and state in their
profile, preferably a street address also.
Category columns display - Depending on your web layout you can display categories in 1, 2, 3 ,4 or 5 columns.
Allow category icons – indicate whether or not category icons are to be displayed.
Display sub-categories – Display sub-categories when a main category is selected to list
The next 4 fields have 3 options:
Always display the title or count
Never display the title or count
Only display title or count if count
is greater then zero.
Display main category title – If set to Never then categories and their sub-categories will NOT be shown.
Display sub-category title – If set to Never then sub-categories will NOT be shown.
Display main count
Display sub-category count
The next 2 fields have 3 options:
Left align the title and count
Center the title and count
Right align the title and count
Center main category
The following 2 fields require a web safe name such as YELLOW or a web safe code in hex with the preceding hash tag #EFFF00
Main count color – Set the text color for the main category counts.
Sub count color – Set the text color for the sub-category counts.
Latest ads category display – 3 options, display them at the bottom of the list page, the top or not at all.
The following 3 fields can have color values entered as either a web safe color name (IE. RED, ORANGE, BLUE, Etc.) or as a hexadecimal color which is specified with: #RRGGBB, where the RR (red), GG (green) and BB (blue) hexadecimal integers specify the components of the color. All values must be between 0 and FF.

Required color – For required fields background color.
Required character – Character indicating a required field.
Required display type – Show the required field either by the name tagged (the required character super scripted after the field name, by field background/border or both.
Optional color – For the background color for optional fields.
Error color – For the background error color when the user passes the mouse over the Save or PayPal buttons a popup warning message will appear indicating which fields are incorrect or not filled in. When they click OK, to clear out the popup message, the required fields that are in error will have a this background/border color to highlight them.
Error display type – Indicate the field in error with either a background color or just a border color.
Include Featured Ads pricing – If you have the module Featured Ads then this will allow you to include the Featured Ads pricing schedule when a user is posting a new ad. This way they don't have to post a separate PayPal payment to be included as a Featured Ad.
Display user's IP address – Indicate whether or not the user's IP address is to be displayed on the Add/Edit/Renew form. Either way the IP address will always be recorded.
Category selection style – Set to yes to keep a single drop down box for category selection. If you have a large number of categories set this to NO and you will get a multi tiered drop down selection.
The drop down category menu list is created dynamically as a result some alignment will be needed to adjust to your template style. Once set in the following parameters there will be no need to alter unless you change your template.
Menu list width – Width for each item in the dynamically created menu list .
Menu list adjustment – Postion adjustment value for the dynamically created menu list .
Menu alignment – Alignment value to align the subsequent menu lists .
Menu list border color – Border color for the menu lists (use a web safe name such as Lightgrey or the web safe code in hex #EFFF00) .
Default city – Set a default city for automatic fill in or just leave blank.
Default state – Set a default state for automatic fill in or just leave blank.
Default county – Set a default county for automatic fill in or just leave blank.
Default country – Set a default country for automatic fill in or just leave blank.
User Cost Tab:
Duration 1 – duration/term of AD in days.
Cost 1 – cost for this duration/term.
Up to 4 more durations and costs can be defined.
Category durations and costs take precedence over these.
If the percentage field is not zero it will be used otherwise the value amount will be used
Item Fee background– Background color item fees (use a web safe name such as RED or the web safe code in hex #EFFF00) .
Public additional percentage – Percentage to be added or deducted from base costs for general public/guests users, entered as +10 or -10 .
Public additional value – Amount to be added or deducted from base costs for general public/guests, entered as +2.00 or -2.00 .
Registered additional percentage – Percentage to be added or deducted from base costs for registered users, entered as +10 or -10 .
Registered additional value – Amount to be added or deducted from base costs for registered users, entered as +2.00 or -2.00 .
Author additional percentage – Percentage to be added or deducted from base costs for authors, entered as +10 or -10 .
Author additional value – Amount to be added or deducted from base costs for authors, entered as +2.00 or -2.00 .
Editor additional percentage – Percentage to be added or deducted from base costs for editors users, entered as +10 or -10 .
Editor additional value – Amount to be added or deducted from base costs for editors, entered as +2.00 or -2.00 .
Publisher additional percentage – Percentage to be added or deducted from base costs for publishers, entered as +10 or -10 .
Publisher additional value – Amount to be added or deducted from base costs for publishers, entered as +2.00 or -2.00 .
Allow cloning – Allow user to clone/copy an ad to a different category for a discounted price .
Clone discount – For cloning ads, set the clone discount percentage rate, 60 = 60% of cost,
IE. cost = 10 then discounted cost will be 6 .
Clone value – For cloning ads, set the amount to be deducted from the base cost and leave clone discount at 0 .
Show Contact – Display contact information to anyone or only to logged in user's.
Display Full Name? - Yes to use first/last name or NO to just use the Username.
Allow Attachment – allow attachments in Email message when using the email form.
These buttons can be configured to conform to your website's theme by allowing you to set the colors, sizes. etc.
Email a friend button and Flag as inappropriate button. These will be shown on the detail ad page, top right to allow users to email a link to this ad to a friend or to email the webmaster that this ad may be inappropriate.
The Pay Button is for the Direct Payment option when used for payments.
The Return/Cancel button is displayed on most displays at the bottom of the text to return to the previous page.
The color fields require a web safe name such as YELLOW or a web safe code in hex with the preceding hash tag #EFFF00
Background color – Sets the background color for the button.
Border color - Sets the background color for the button.
When a user hovers over a button with the mouse, the background color and the border color will switch.
Border size – Enter the size in in pixels as 2px or as EMS format 1.5em
Text color - Sets the text color for the button.
Reverse color - Sets the reverse text color for the button, when the mouse hovers over the button.
Rounded corner size – To display the button with rounded corners. Enter the size in in pixels as 2px or as EMS format 1.5em. Larger values make for larger rounded corners, make theM too large and the button starts to become oval. If you just want square corners set the value to 0px.
Text font size – Sets the size of the buttons text. Enter the size in in pixels as 2px or as EMS format 1.5em
Border style – You have a number of available border style to choose from, solid, dotted, etc. Enter the size in in pixels as 2px or as EMS format 1.5em
Max Ad Image Size – this is the maximum image size for uploads IE. 5000000 would be 5 Mb. You also need to insure that the max upload size in your PHP configuration file is large enough.All images will be resized proportionately to avoid distortion.
The following widths and heights are image sizes that will be displayed. The uploaded images will be reduced to, if the uploaded images are smaller (width or height) than these then they will not be resized.
Max Ad Image Width and Height - These should be adjusted to actual display needs, usually dictated by the templates you are using.
Max Ad Thumbnail Width and Height – should also be determined according to your display needs.
Tag - is if you wish a watermark placed on the uploaded images.
No Picture Image - link address of the no picture (nopic) image when no pictures are attached to an ad. If you have your own no-image icon place it in the images folder of com_classifiedsredux and enter it here.
Image Display Type - there are 5 options to choose from
Display Image in Gallery View – this is the primary display of Classifieds Redux it will display the first image in the max size and to the right of it any additional thumbnails, with the last thumbnail being the a Google Map (if Google Maps is turned on). When a viewer passes the mouse over an image it will immediately replace the main image (these images are preloaded to insure a quick response). If the Google map is moused over the Google map will replace the main image.
The following selections will display thumbnails only, when a thumbnail is clicked the appropriate actions will be activated.
If Google Maps is turned on then the map will display at the bottom of the detail page.
Open Image in New Window – As stated will open a new window/tab for the larger image to display.
Open Image with Lytebox - this pops open a shadowbox with the enlarged picture, if there is more than one thumbnail you will be able to go to the next or back to view all of them in the shadowbox before closing it.
Open Image with Highslide – when you position the mouse over a thumbnail a magnifying glass icon will appear, upon clicking it the image will increase to its full size, clicking again will reduce it back to its thumbnail size.
Open Image in a popup – when the thumbnail is clicked on a new window will popup with the enlarged image.
Max Category Icon width – Maximum width of an icon for the category display.
Max Category icon Height – Maximum height of an icon for the category display.
Max Category Icon Thumbnail width – Maximum width of a thumbnail icon for the category display.
Max Category icon Thumbnail Height – Maximum height of a thumbnail icon for the category display.
Global free and paid images
Max Images – this is a global value and should always be set to a max number of images possible as it is used in a number of areas.
Max free images – maximum number of free images allowed globally, category takes precedence.
Max paid images – maximum number of paid images allowed globally, category takes precedence.
Paid image cost – cost for each paid image, category takes precedence.
Thumbnail display options
Thumbnail display - display thumbnails horizontally or vertically.
Vertical height - If displaying thumbnails vertically set the height of the column.
Scroll behavior - Sets the scrolling behavior.
- STATIC indicates no scrolling.
- SCROLL indicates that the content should scroll off the edge of the marquee area, then reappear on the other side.
- SLIDE is almost the same, except that it indicates that when the leading content reaches the left edge it should stop without scrolling off.
- ALTERNATE makes the content bounce back and forth, all of it remaining visible all the time (assuming of course that it all fits).
Scroll amount - SCROLLAMOUNT, together with SCROLLDELAY, sets the speed of scrolling. Marquee moves the content by displaying the content, then delaying for some short period of time, then displaying the content again in a new position. SCROLLAMOUNT sets the size in pixels of each jump. A higher value for SCROLLAMOUNT makes the marquee scroll faster.
Scroll amount - SCROLLDELAY, together with SCROLLAMOUNT, sets the speed of the scrolling. Marquee moves the content by displaying the content, then delaying for some short period of time, then displaying the content again in a new position. SCROLLDELAY sets the amount of delay in milliseconds (a millisecond is 1/1000th of a second). A value of 500 is approximately a half second.
Enter the text to be displayed on the front Classifieds Redux page (categories list) and the Rules page.
Expiration – indicate whether the ads will have an expiration.
Ad life duration (days) – set the number of days that the ads will expire, category duration/terms have precedence over this.
Send renewal Email before expiration – should a renewal notice be sent.
Number of days between the renewal notice being sent and the expiration date – set the number of days prior to the expiration date that a renewal notice should be sent.
Number of days after expiring that an ad and its images should be purged – set the number of days. This is to clean up old ads and their images.
Renewal text added at the beginning of the e-mail
The following fields allow you to setup the number and price formatting for input and display.
For price fields it allows you to use either the currency symbol ($, €, CHF, £ ..) or the international currency code (USD, EUR, CHF, CAD, GBP..). Number fields do not use either.
The decimal point precision sets the number of digits to display after the decimal point. (Except in the case of the existing tax fields the precision is hard coded to 4. The decimal character is used as the decimal point, in the US it is a period (.) other places use a comma (,).
The thousands separator is used to separate the thousands break (usually 3 digits: 1,000), in the US this is normally a comma (,) other places this can be a period or a space.
The resulting value in the US would be $ 12,345,678.90 or USD 12,345,678.90, examples from other places could be € 12.345.678,90 or EUR 12 345 678.90. At this point in time the thousands separator is set at 3 digits. If your formatting requirements are different, it would require custom modifications.
In this administration area all values are displayed and entered as simple text values
Accept PayPal payment? – Set to yes to accept PayPal payments.
Use the PayPal sandbox – if testing set to yes.
PayPal email where payment is to be made – if testing insert your PayPal sandbox email address otherwise put in your actual PayPal email address.
Accept V.me by VISA? – Future paymant direct through Visa payment process.
Accept PayPass by MasterCard? – Future payment direct through MasterCard payment process.
Direct payment available? - If you accept payment directly to you either by using a card swipe processor (such as Square.com, PayPal or Intuit GoPayment and others) for your smart phone, or payment to you by check, money order or cash.
Direct payment button label – Text label for the direct payment button.
Direct Payment notice – Notice that will be displayed to indicate how you wish to be paid by the purchaser.
Email notice – Notice to be put in email to purchaser regarding their purchase.
Currency code for Paypal USD, EUR, CHF, CAD, etc. - enter a valid PayPal currency code.
Currency symbol for Paypal $, €, CHF, £, etc. - enter a valid PayPal currency symbol.
Symbol or code – Select to use the currency symbol or the international currency code.
Decimal point precision – Enter the number of decimals to display.
Decimal character - Enter the decimal character.
Thousands separator - Enter the character used as the thousands separator.
String for pricing term – Enter the term period in your language (days, weeks, months, etc.) normally this should be set as days.
Payment Notification - Indicate whether emails will be sent to the user and the administrator when a payment confirmation is received from PayPal.
Allow subscription/recurring payments? - will you allow repeating payments via subscription through PayPal.
Set recurring payments term - 5 options are available.
- Default to term defined by category – use the terms as defined by the category chosen.
- Set term in days – term set in days.
- Set term in weeks – term set in weeks.
- Set term in months – term set in months.
- Set term in years – term set in years.
Set term cycle (ie. X days, x weeks, etc.) - set the cycle for terms if not using the default to term defined by category.
Set cost for the term cycle - set the cost for term cycle if not using the default to term defined by category.
If there is a possibility that more than one tax rate will be needed for you or your advertisers then enter a minimum value of 0.0001 in the tax rates.
Primary tax rate - set your default primary tax rate if applicable.
Secondary tax rate - set a secondary tax rate if applicable.
Third tax rate - set a third tax rate if applicable.
